New hot titles for you!

Have you been gripped by The Handmaid’s Tale?

Come along to Gresford Community Library and borrow the books for free – we have both The Handmaid’s Tale and the latest – Booker shortlisted – The Testaments. But hurry – they’ll be popular!!

The big day is almost here…

Gresford Community Library Garden Party tomorrow – and the weather forecast is for sunshine and 21 degrees!! (fingers crossed!)

The prize hamper is big and beautiful (feel free to come to the library today to add to the hamper or donate something for the tombola etc.) We hope you’ll come along and enjoy yourself and support us – it’s your community library.

See you all tomorrow!!

Summer Reading Challenge!!

Our children’s annual Summer Reading Challenge is well underway once more; this year’s theme is Mischief Makers. The challenge to all our school-aged children is to read six library books over the summer holidays. As usual, anyone who makes a start on the challenge will receive a certificate and those who rise to the challenge successfully, and read six books, will also receive a beautiful medal. There are Beano-based games and stickers to be had along the way!

Garden Party a great success! Many thanks

The Garden Party last week was brilliant, notwithstanding the competition from the football! Around one hundred visitors came to enjoy the sun, strawberries, prosecco and live music in Baroness Walmsley’s beautiful garden.
Many thanks to everyone who supported us by coming along or by helping, donating prizes and buying raffle tickets – we’re very grateful to you all for helping us to keep our community library open. This is our fifth year, but we’ll only be able to keep on going if you support us by using the library and helping us to raise funds to supplement the generosity of the Community Councils of Gresford, Marford and Rossett.
Special thanks to Wrexham Country Market who joined us for the afternoon with their range of beautiful, hand-crafted goods, and to Tina Davies of Country Chic who brought along a range of her gorgeous scarves, tops and jewellery. Special, special thanks go to Pete Spesh, who stepped into our musical breach and treated us to some great live acoustic music which was perfect for our sunny, relaxed afternoon (see the link to his Facebook page, below) and also to the handbell ringers who, once again, delighted with their musical skill and dexterity. All good stuff.
Massive thanks once more to Baroness Walmsley and Lord Thomas for opening up their garden and home to us. We hope you will all join us there again next year – our proposed date is Saturday 22nd June 2019. We look forward to seeing you there – and in the library any time, of course.

Knit and Natter AND Coffee ‘n’ Cake!

Come to the library on Friday afternoons for a (very) informal get together to drink coffee, eat cake, natter and – if you’d like to – do a bit of knitting. We were wondering if we could get an informal group going where people could make their own projects, or knit things for charity, or learn to knit, or just get out of the house for an hour to meet people and have a chat! Whatever you’d like to do, we’d love to see you! Sessions will run every Friday afternoon from 1.30 till 4.30 – just drop in when suits and stay for as long as you like. Starts next week.

Board Game Family Fun at the Library!

We’re trying something new! Bring the kids along on Monday 26th March (first day of the Easter hols) for some board game fun. Ages (approx.) 3 – 10. There will be Jaffa Cakes and juice!! Board games are great for developing soft skills like turn-taking as well as reading and thinking skills – and they’re FUN!! 1.30 till 4.30 – drop in for a while if you can.

Opening/Closing hours over Christmas

We will be open on Saturday 23rd December and then closed ALL of Christmas week. We’ll open again for business as usual on Tuesday 2nd January

Kristmas KidzKlub
