More on the Wrexham Trust for libraries

A Library Trust for Wrexham!

There’s been a lot of activity in the council and the papers over the last two weeks about plans to move Wrexham’s library service into a Trust and so protect the service and save money too. WCBC have now abandoned the idea to place Wrexham’s libraries in a pre-existing South Wales Trust and have decided to set up a Wrexham Trust for the purpose. Good news! So, we’re now pretty much back where we were this time last year when this is very similar to what was proposed and agreed by WCBC Executive Board (remember the Culture Trust proposals?) Let’s hope things move forward quickly now and that the new Trust maintains (and strengthens) the relationship which GDCL has with the Wrexham Library Service. The links we have (eg. the visit of the library van each week and the use of the Wrexham computer system so that we can serve people regardless of where they have borrowed their books from) keep us dynamic and relevant and enable us to ensure that people in Gresford, Marford and Rossett have the same service as council tax payers in other parts of the county borough.
