GDCL Accounts for 2015-16
We have been very lucky to continue to receive fantastic financial support from our community councils in Gresford, Marford and Rosset. The money they award us pays most of our running costs – gas, ‘phone, rates, electric and so on – the boring but very necessary stuff – we couldn’t continue without their support. We have asked both Community Councils for help again in 2017-18 and we are all anxiously waiting to hear what they have decided. We raise money on top of this to a) try to reduce what we need to ask the Community Councils for and b) so that we can improve and develop the library appearance and services. This year we have spent some of the money raised by GDCL and the community to refurbish the Children and Young People’s Room. It’s nearly finished and looks colourful and beautiful – call in and have a look!

GDCL Accounts for 2014-15
We have been very lucky to receive such fantastic financial support from our community councils in Gresford, Marford and Rossett, especially Gresford and Marford which completely underwrote our running costs when we first opened in May 2014 and again in the financial year 2015-16. Rossett Community Council also made a generous contribution to our running costs in 2015-16. We have asked both Community Councils for help again in 2016-17 and we are all anxiously waiting to hear what they have decided.
In addition to this we have been very grateful and moved by the level of support provided by the three communities for our fundraising efforts and to all our ‘Friends of GDCL’ who have made a commitment to an annual or monthly sum; many thanks to all of you!
We have been afraid to spend any money on improvements in case we were suddenly hit with a large, unexpected bill but we have now decided to take a deep breath and get on with the things we’ve had in our development plan pretty much from Day 1!
So, we have bought some collapsible tables which means we will be able to use spaces more flexibly and we’re about to refurbish the Children and Young People’s Room. Any ideas/suggestions you may have about this will be warmly received.
